Our main objective in finding a place to rent is close proximity (less than 30 minutes) to Rosslyn. We're willing to make sacrifices on square footage, etc in order to have a good commute.

Has anyone lived in this area recently that could give us some suggestions on house/townhome rental areas? We'll of course check MilitaryByOwner and AHRN, but any insider tips to particularly good or bad neighborhoods would be very helpful!

We have a townhouse for rent near the Franconia-Springfield Metro, but not sure how big your family is since it is a 2 Bedroom, 2.5 bath, 3 level. My husband walks to the metro on a quiet pedestrian path every day so we have had no problems with just one car for 4 years. The Amberleigh subdivision has no assigned parking, but plenty of spaces and near everything. He can also take the bus from the station for a 15 min ride to the Pentagon and take the metro into Rosslyn. The information is posted on militarybyowner.com on Rockleigh Way.

Avoid Route 1 area! Too much traffic. The Kingstowne subdivision is nice with some larger homes, but he would have to drive to the metro. I think they may have a shuttle.
