Old Alabama Town & Trolley Tour
Take in Montgomery’s rich history! Wednesday, Sept 8 (9:30am-1:00pm)
We’ll meet at the Montgomery Visitors Center and take the trolley to Old Alabama Town and the Ordeman House. The trolley tour ($1) is an event in itself -we’ll pass Rosa Parks’ bench, the first White House of the Confederacy, the statecapitol, and several historical Rev. Martin Luther King buildings. The last time I rode this trolley, I sat next to Rev. King’s driver!
The tour of the Ordeman House ($7) shows the fascinating story of city life in the 1800s. Built in 1850, the Italianate house has three floors filled with period antiques. Behind the house are the original kitchen and slave quarters. Other buildingsinclude a laundry, necessaries, tool storage, carriage house and an 1840 barn. We’ll enjoy an exclusive catered lunch ($17.50) at the historic Young House (we’ll need a minimum of 25 people to take advantage of this).
